Coda Equities is a Los Angeles based real estate investment firm focused on acquiring and repositioning assets in primary and emerging markets throughout Southern California.

Founded in 2016, Coda has successfully closed over forty real estate acquisitions and continues to grow its portfolio while carefully monitoring and adjusting to the evolving trends and changes in the economic landscape of the areas in which they focus.

Coda’s principals have an extensive background in operating, managing and leasing commercial and multifamily assets. They capitalize on this expertise to benefit their investors by creating and executing asset strategies that maximize value and provide investors with strong, risk-adjusted returns.​

MEET THE FOUNDERS

Coda is owned and operated by principals who have over 40
years of experience in real estate.

Jonah Garb

Jonah Garb has over fifteen years of experience as a principal and investor in commercial real estate. At Coda Jonah focuses on sourcing commercial properties, investor relations and commercial operations.

Prior to founding Coda Equities, Jonah was a principal and partner at LS Capital, a Los Angeles based real estate investment and private equity firm. In this position, Jonah was responsible for sourcing commercial real estate investment opportunities throughout California and the greater U.S. Jonah earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis in business administration from Northern Arizona University.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Jonah resides in the Hollywood Hills with his wife Stefanie, their daughters Emily and Natalie, and their dogs Molly and Leo. Some of his passions include traveling, playing guitar, charity work and enjoying Los Angeles’s diverse culinary scene. Jonah sits on the board and is a founding member of Hilarity for Charity, a charity group that raises awareness and funding for Alzheimer’s disease.

Dru Boyarsky

Dru Boyarsky has over a decade of multifamily real estate investment and management experience and has been involved in over 100 real estate acquisitions. Dru focuses on sourcing, financing, structuring and re-positioning Coda’s assets while overseeing its general operations. His energetic passion for deal making and ability to get all parties to work together towards a common goal enables Dru to work through challenging projects and get deals done.

Prior to founding Coda Equities, he was a Partner at Monem Corporation, leading their Property Management division of over 900 units and directing all Asset Management including acquisitions, financing, dispositions and investor relations. Dru excelled as an Asset Manager and helped structure complex partnerships, 1031 exchanges, financing strategies and re-positioning strategies. In addition, Dru has spearheaded major renovation projects and has vast experience with running a project from start to finish.

Dru earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Miami and went on to attain a Master of Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University. Dru is a Los Angeles native and lives with his wife Lisa, son, Brooklyn and dog, Bodhi near Miracle Mile, Los Angeles. Dru is a fan of sports, fitness, food and wine, and music. He also sits on the LMU Real Estate Advisory Council (REAC)and is involved with several charitable organizations.

Mike Sloan

Mike has worked in commercial real estate for 15 years and has always been eager to incorporate good design into his projects.

Prior to founding Coda Equities, Mike served as a Vice President for Jamison Services, Inc, at the time the largest office landlord in California, overseeing an expansive portfolio of assets. At Coda, Mike focuses on the commercial side of the portfolio, overseeing operations and construction. Mike holds a Masters of Science in Real Estate Development (MSRED) from the Graduate School of Architecture at Columbia University. He is a licensed contractor and real estate broker.

Mike grew up surfing Los Angeles beaches from El Porto to County Line and is an avid folk, jazz and rock music fan. On the weekends he can be found with his wife and two small children exploring Southern California’s beaches and canyons.

THE TEAM

Charlotte Terhune, Office Administrator

Charlotte Terhune joined Coda Equities in 2020 taking on the role of Office Administrator. Charlotte uses her organizational skills to ensure smooth operations for the team and works to support her co-workers in all administrative capacities. Before joining Coda, she previously spent five years in administrative roles within the fine arts industry. While working in fine arts, she developed and promoted efficient office operations.

A graduate of Pace University in New York City, she holds a degree in Fine Arts and Art History. Charlotte grew up on the East Coast before relocating to Los Angeles in 2018. When away from work, Charlotte likes to spend her free time creating healthy recipes and hiking with her dog, Enzo.

Randy Du, Controller

Randy Du joined Coda Equities in April 2020 with the role of Controller. He has over 15 years of experience serving as Controller at several real estate companies with holdings in office, retail and industrial warehouse assets. Randy was responsible for accounting functions for different types of ownership structures such as REIT’s, institutional funds, partnerships and 3rd party management. This helps him to become versatile in dealing with various aspects of real estate industry.

Randy earned his Master of Accounting from University of Southern California. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, basketball and rollerblading.
